The maritime contractor Royal Van Oord, which specializes in dredging and salvage of sea-lands and operates in Area 1 of the Rovuma Basin, offered Platform Makobo 20 Bernina electric sewing machines, plus five spare motors, in early February.
The equipment offered by the Dutch multinational will be used in the Makobo studio in Pemba, to support the training of more than 200 women displaced by the armed insurrection that ravaged Cabo Delgado province.
The donation of humanitarian support to Mission Coração Solidário that the Mozambican organization has been running since 2020 is part of Van Oord's social responsibility program, which serves to promote self-sufficiency and encourage employment and income generation for both displaced people and host families.
The Solidary Heart Mission has promoted several initiatives around economic, social, cultural, and environmental inclusion and sustainability, aiming at the sustainable improvement of the living conditions of internally displaced people and of the host communities.
