Moz Express: Venâncio Mondlane promises railroad linking Maputo to Cabo Delgado

Moz Express: Venâncio Mondlane promete ferrovia que liga Maputo a Cabo Delgado

The independent candidate, Venâncio Mondlane, works in Manica province, and made promises to the electorate to connect the south and north of the country in record time, as well as to ensure quality education for children.

Mondlane told the electorate in the town of Chimoio that he will implement an electric railway project that will run from Maputo to Cabo Delgado in four hours, called the Moz Express.

According to the candidate, whose candidacy is supported by the Podemos party, the high-speed train project will be coupled with a fiber optic project to bring internet to schools.

"In that same train project we're going to put in something called fiber optics to allow all schools in Mozambique to have free internet access so that all children can study at their leisure. No more studying from books with distorted information. We want that, from elementary school onwards, with this fiber optic project, which will follow the railway line, we will distribute [broadband] to the districts. We want children to start studying with tablets," he said.

On the other hand, Mondlane once again stressed the need to work for local communities to benefit most from the industries that exploit natural resources.
