Political relations between politician Venancio Mondlane and the president of the Optimist Party for the Development of Mozambique (PODEMOS), Albino Forquilha, have come to an end.

In a press release, Mondlane's communications office criticized the party's speed in taking its seats in the National Assembly and its apathy in the face of the murder of demonstrators.

For Mondlane's advisors, there was a clear lack of commitment by PODEMOS to the coalition agreement signed on August 21, 2024 between the parties.

"... we renounce all rights and prerogatives in favor of the PODEMOS party... we regret to announce to the People and other entities the end of our relationship with the PODEMOS party," it reads.
