Mozambique to export 10,000 tons of cashew nuts annually to US

The province of Cabo Delgado, one of the largest producers of cashew nuts in the country, will annually export about 10,000 tons of cashew nuts to the United States of America (USA).

To this end, the Provincial Executive Council of Cabo Delgado and the company Sunshine Nuts Lda signed a memorandum of understanding on the sidelines of the Maputo International Fair, which ended this Sunday.

The US will also provide $5 million in funding for the production of this crop to displaced families for the recovery of the cashew sector in the Cabo Delgado province, in districts affected by the terrorist attacks.

The amount will be disbursed to families who will gradually return to their areas of origin, starting this year until 2027, and is intended for the production, commercialization, processing and export of cashew nuts.
