The Mozambican government says it is on the lookout for the new variant of coronavirus B.1.1.529, first identified in South Africa.
Health Minister Armindo Tiago says that there is a need to continue to observe measures in order to avoid contamination.
According to Tiago who was speaking this Friday after the launch of the vaccination campaign against cervical cancer said that judging by the description that is given, these variants in some situations are more virulent and easily increase transmission.
"The most important thing is what we have been doing over time to prevent further contamination, and it is urgent to take the effective and necessary measures to break the transmission," stressed Armindo Tiago.
Meanwhile, Tiago stresses the importance of strengthening the usual measures to prevent the virus and restrict travelers from entering the country's borders.
