Mozambique and Tanzania have decided to set up a technical police team responsible for devising strategies to combat terrorism that, since 2017, has plagued the province of Cabo Delgado.
The information was advanced a few days ago by the Minister of National Defense, Cristóvão Chume, at the closing of the Ministerial Meeting of the IV Session of the Permanent Joint Commission on Defense and Security between Mozambique and Tanzania, held in the city of Maputo.
At the event, the defense ministers of the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on sharing classified information to combat the phenomenon.
"We noted with satisfaction the sharing of information and police intelligence among migration authorities, establishment of a police technical team to map out strategies to combat terrorism and violent extremism," the minister said.
