Mozambique and Portugal seek strategies to innovate in agriculture

Moçambique e Portugal buscam estratégias para inovar na agricultura

Mozambique and Portugal are working to identify strategies to innovate and technologically develop agriculture so that more young people will join this sector of activity.

To this end, the Young Farmers Association of Portugal (AJAP) organized on Wednesday, in Maputo, a Forum on Agro-Food Quality and Sustainability, focusing on the opportunities and challenges arising from globalization and its sustainability.

Speaking during the event, Portugal's Minister of Agriculture and Food, Maria Antunes, said that young people must be umbilically linked to education, science, technology and innovation for the sustainable development of agriculture.

"We have to correspond together to a strategy of innovating and technologically developing agriculture so that we can have more young people in this area. Together we can create conditions to produce more food with fewer resources and respond to what is the biggest challenge of today, which is to produce food for the world's population," she explained, quoted by AIM.
