Mozambique is the third African country that administers the most vaccines

Mozambique is the third African country with the highest percentage of vaccines administered, covering 27.2% of the population with 18.9 million doses, according to the African Union Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).

According to data made available following the Africa CDC's weekly press conference, and quoted by Lusa, the list of African countries that have administered the most vaccines received is led by South Africa, which used 91.5% of the 29 million vaccines received, followed by Morocco, which made use of 90.5% of the 53.6 million vaccines received.

Mozambique already has the necessary doses of Covid-19 vaccines to immunize the entire adult population, the country's target, Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi announced Wednesday.

"We already have enough vaccination available in the country for the entire eligible population," about 16 million people, he said during a communication to the nation about the restrictions for preventing the disease.

The Head of State said that Mozambique serves as an example to the rest of Southern Africa for having already reached half of the goal.
