The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, said this morning that Mozambique is becoming a model of bilateral and multilateral cooperation in combating terrorism.
The understanding results from the gains achieved in the fight against this evil in the province of Cabo Delgado, where the Armed Forces of Defense of Mozambique and their counterparts from Rwanda and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) participate.
The Head of State stressed that coordination with SADC and Rwandan forces is key, however. "I appeal that everyone can contribute to the pacification of Mozambique. Terrorism has already proven that it is an enemy that can only be defeated if there is unity among Mozambicans and if the whole world unites, because then it will not have the possibility to penetrate and prosper. We cannot allow this evil to spread throughout the country.
Quoted by the newspaper Domingo, Nyusi, who was speaking at the opening of the XXII Coordinating Council of the Ministry of National Defense, recommended that the defense sector should collaborate with the media and that they should report with impartiality while observing confidentiality.
"Discuss with the academic community so that it can continue to conduct scientific and manipulation-free studies on various phenomena and propose solutions. They should also listen to civil society, the religious who should be the spreaders of the message of peace," Nyusi stressed.
Meanwhile, Filipe Nyusi, also said that the government is carrying out reconstruction programs of socio-economic infrastructure destroyed by terrorists in the province of Cabo Delgado, this work being complemented by the FADM on the ground.
