Mozambique and the United Arab Emirates want to cooperate in several fields

The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi has been visiting the United Arab Emirates since this morning to renew the existing economic cooperation between the two countries.

In fact, according to Mozambique's ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Tiago Castigo, Mozambique is on the top 10 list of nations that invest the most in the "Pearl of the Indian Ocean.

Mozambique and the United Arab Emirates want to establish relations of cooperation in various fields, especially tourism, political, economic and social.

The source that is quoted by the newspaper "Noticias" says that Mozambique is interested in this cooperation aspects of agriculture, energy, particularly renewables, tourism, transport and communications and infrastructure.

And on the part of the United Arab Emirates, the areas elected as of greatest interest are agriculture and hydrocarbons. Agriculture, especially, considering that this country imports almost all of the food it consumes, since it does not produce food.

And the fact that Mozambique has large extensions of arable land is seen as an opportunity to generate and export a flow of products to this nation, which may allow the capture of foreign exchange and expand the volume of investments in the agricultural area in the country.

"We hope that this visit will strengthen, more and more, the relations of cooperation between the two countries. The United Arab Emirates is a country with great potential to invest in Mozambique. I think that the approach, in the talks, will be that", predicts Tiago Castigo to the Mozambican press covering the visit of the President of the Republic Filipe Nyusi.

In the portfolio of Mozambican interests are also military and public security issues, looking at the particularly difficult moment in the province of Cabo Delgado, which is terrorism.

Thus, the agreements to be signed include those for cooperation in the fields of defense and security, as well as for the fight against terrorism.

"We are optimistic that the results will be very positive for both countries," the Mozambican diplomat said.
