Moçambique detecta primeiro caso de doença que provoca dilatação anormal do útero

Mozambique has detected the first case of 'Mola Hidatiforme', a disease that affects the uterus of women and leads to abnormal dilation, vomiting, vaginal bleeding or fetal death.

According to "Carta de Moçambique" the case was diagnosed in a 17-year-old teenager in the district of Lago, in Niassa province. The patient presented signs of pregnancy. She was admitted to the health unit with vaginal bleeding, after having had several fainting spells.

Due to the complexity of the disease and the need for special care, the young woman was transferred to the Naval Base Operating Room, where she underwent surgery and is now in good health, the portal writes.

However, surgeon Domingos Abibo, said that she was not pregnant, even with physical signs leading to a "certain" suspicion of the formation of a life. The specialist explained that an anomaly called "Mola Hidatiforme" had developed, which stays in the uterus as if it were a pregnancy.

The surgeon said, that the situation was abnormal, there having been exaggerated proliferation of the placenta, menstrual delay, and exacerbation of all the manifestations common to a management.
