Mozambique defends strengthening cooperation in the fight against terrorism

Moçambique defende reforço da cooperação no combate ao terrorismo

Mozambique supports the strengthening of cooperation, involving various national and international actors, within the framework of the UN Charter, as an additional measure to the efforts of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to stem the tide of global terrorism.

The position was expressed by Ambassador Pedro Comissário, Mozambique's permanent representative to the United Nations, in New York, during his intervention at the UN SC meeting on the theme "Threats to International Peace and Security caused by Transnational Activities of Terrorist Groups.

Quoted by AIM, the Commissioner said that acts of terrorism constitute one of the most serious threats to international peace and security, endangering the implementation of the sustainable development agenda.

As a result, many innocent people have lost their lives, and public and private economic infrastructure has been destroyed.
