Mozambique wins eight gold medals at Taekwondo tournament in Botswana

Moçambique conquista oito medalhas de ouro no torneio de Taekwondo no Botsuana

The Mozambican Taekwondo team won eight gold medals, four silver and three bronze at the third edition of the Botswana Open, which took place at the weekend.

According to a Challenge newspaperThe Mozambican delegation was represented by 14 athletes, including five from Inhambane and the same number from Nacala Porto and four from Maputo.

"The gold medals were won by athletes Iainne da Silva, Pedro David, Samantha Mabote, Tildo dos Santos, Larchen Cumbe, Sibaue Malaune and Keysson Langa," says the same publication.

Ancha Momade, Carla Bento, Gregório Mário and Keyzer Ribeiro won silver medals. Stefânia Lorenzini and Bernardo Inguana took bronze. The athletes competed in the form poomsae and combat kyurugui categories.

Iainne da Silva was voted SADC's best female senior athlete and champion in the 62kg category. Athlete Pedro David was voted the best senior male athlete in the 58kg category.

In this edition, Mozambique won the best delegation cup and the best coach category.

The tournament included the host country, Mozambique, Lesotho and Namibia.
