The Supreme Court has decided to extradite the Nigerian citizen identified as Babatunde Abioye to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The Netherlands has asked Mozambique to extradite the citizen to serve his sentence for the crimes of trafficking in prohibited drugs and psychotropic substances committed in that country, writes the Newsciting a document from the Public Prosecutor's Office.
The Criminal Chamber of the SC decided to grant the extradition in light of the ruling of June 20, 2023. Work is underway to comply with the legal procedures for executing the request.
Meanwhile, in Mozambique, the Central Office for Combating Organized and Transactional Crime (GCCCOT) is running a trial in which the same citizen is accused of falsifying documents, in the serious form, using a false document, criminal association and active corruption.
Babatunde Abioye was arrested in November 2022, in the city of Maputo, following an International Arrest Warrant issued by INTERPOL.
