Moatize: Venâncio promises to renegotiate exploration contracts with mining companies

Moatize: Venâncio promete renegociar contratos de exploração com mineradoras

The independent candidate for the presidential elections, Venâncio Mondlane, promised today in Moatize to renegotiate the contracts with the coal mining companies.

In the view of Mondlane, whose candidacy is supported by the Podemos party, mining companies should pay taxes for the benefit of the host communities.

"From 2025, [when I'm President of the Republic], I'm going to call all these companies and tell them to start new contracts. The first measure will be for them to pay all the taxes just like the population does," he said.

But Venâncio Mondlane also promised to create conditions to ensure greater access to drinking water for the population. He said it was inconceivable that there was no water treatment plant in Moatize, despite the fact that the region produces thousands of dollars from its mineral and hydrological resources.

Mondlane also asked for votes in the Macanga district.
