Meta plans to invest 65 billion dollars in artificial intelligence projects

Meta planeia investir 65 mil milhões de dólares em projectos de inteligência artificial

Tech giant Meta, which owns Facebook, plans to invest up to 65 billion dollars in projects related to artificial intelligence (AI) over the course of this year.

On the table will be the construction of a giant data center and an increase in hires linked to Meta's AI team.

The company plans to use the funds to build a data center "so large that it would cover a significant part of Manhattan", Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, revealed last Friday in a post on the social network Facebook, quoted by the Negócios newspaper.

"This is a massive effort that, over the next few years, will drive our core products and activities, unlock historic innovations and expand American technology leadership," the tech giant's leader wrote in the publication.

Meta, like other companies in the sector, has been striving to build larger data centers to support the growing computing needs related to the development of more advanced AI systems.

Last week, OpenAI, SoftBank Group and Oracle announced a $100 billion joint venture, called Stargate, to build data centers and AI-related infrastructures in the United States.
