The Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM) said today that it hopes to see electoral truth as the result of the work underway in the Constitutional Council (CC).
"Regarding the results, we are concerned given what the country is going through. We hope and it is in the MDM's interest that the CC finds the electoral truth in all the work it is doing to guarantee the credibility of the bodies, and to bring back stability and harmony," said the party's national representative.
Silvia Cheias was speaking during the meeting that a delegation from the party held with the President of the CC, Lúcia Ribeiro, as part of the meetings with political parties, as has already taken place with Podemos and Renamo, to inform them of the work underway to announce the results of the October 9 elections.
"We were very concerned about the issue of the discrepancy between the votes [in all the elections], not least because it was the subject of our appeal. But we were also concerned about the issue of invalid votes. They were very high," he said.
According to Silvia Cheias, several party representatives at district level were not notified or were notified late, and were thus unable to witness the centralization of votes.
At the time, Lúcia Ribeiro said that the CC had received two appeals from the MDM and that they would be dealt with in the final judgment announcing the results.
