Manuel Araújo anuncia início de protestos a partir de hoje até a proclamação definitiva dos resultados

The mayor of Quelimane, the capital of Zambezia, Manuel de Araújo, called yesterday (05) for general demonstrations throughout the province from today, Friday, until the final results are announced by the Constitutional Council (CC)..

According to Renamo's Manuel de Araújo, the marches throughout Zambezia province should start from 3pm, warning that this is a constitutional right.

"We call on all Zambezians, in every district, locality and neighborhood of this vast and rich province, to raise their voices in a peaceful and orderly manner, to demand the restoration of electoral truth," said the mayor of Quelimane, in a statement, noting that this "is a struggle for respect for democracy".

Manuel de Araújo, who was a candidate for governor of Zambézia in last October's elections, argues that the electoral truth must be restored. For this reason, "in respect for the memory of the heroes who made this homeland a free and sovereign land, for the Constitution of the Republic and for the will of the people, I address the people of Zambézia to reiterate our determination to ensure that popular sovereignty is respected".
