A group of protesters once again brought economic activity to a standstill on Monday (10), allegedly to protest against the high prices of basic products.
In the municipality of Matola, the demonstrators chose, among other places, the Malhampswene neighborhood, particularly the National Road number Four (N4), which connects the port of Maputo, in the Mozambican capital, and the South African industrial region of Witbank.
According to a AIMThe protesters forced some truck drivers to hand over the keys to their trucks and then blocked the road.
Faced with this situation, shopkeepers preferred to close their establishments for fear of being vandalized and looted, as happened last December.
Meanwhile, a joint police force was on the ground to ensure that the road was cleared, something that was only possible in the afternoon, although some sections of the N4 were still blocked.
