A total of 12 police posts were vandalized by demonstrators in the central province of Zambézia, as part of the new wave of protests that began on Monday (23) shortly after the Constitutional Council validated the election results..

According to the head of the Public Relations Department of the PRM Provincial Command in Zambézia, Miguel Caetano, who was speaking to the press yesterday, in the last 48 hours the province has once again seen violent demonstrations in the district of Mocubela, where the official residence of the administrator was vandalized and looted.

"In the towns of Zalala, in Quelimane; Ruasse, in Guruè; and in the district of Derre, the demonstrators vandalized police posts," added the source, noting that the attack on police units was followed by acts of vandalism and looting of commercial establishments.

The source added that as a result of the violent demonstrations, there were blockades of National Road Number One (N1) in the districts of Nicoadala, Mocuba in Nampevo and the town of Alto-Molócuè.

Quoted by NewsCaetano explained that the police forces are on the ground and ready to restore public order and security, especially in districts considered critical such as Morrumbala, Ile and Pebane.
