Protesters occupy main avenues on second day of "honking"

Manifestantes ocupam principais avenidas no segundo dia de “buzinadas”

The second of three days of peaceful demonstrations involving the wearing of black clothing, traffic stoppages and honking horns for 15 minutes was marked by strong support.

Just like yesterday, the main outbreaks were recorded on the main avenues, at least in Maputo city.

The demonstrators, dressed according to the occasion, occupied the avenues, sang, held up posters and flags of Mozambique and of the presidential candidate, Venâncio Mondlane. Some preferred to make prayer chains.

"Save Mozambique, this is our country" or "You can kill us, we won't give up" were the chants.

On the other hand, some people have been tearing down Frelimo party flags that have been abandoned on electricity poles since the elections.
