Mozambique is preparing for a potential escalation of protests following the announcement that the Constitutional Council (CC) will reveal its decision on the results of the October 9 elections next Monday (23).

The results are the result of two months of violent protests and harsh police repression led by the PODEMOS presidential candidate, Venâncio Mondlane, who claims to have won the election. According to a VOAAt least 130 people have already lost their lives.

The PODEMOS presidential candidate threatened "chaos" on Monday (18) if the CC validates the initial results, which show him in second place against Daniel Chapo, the candidate of the ruling Frelimo party.
