Mambas host Uganda on March 20 to qualify for the 2026 World Cup

Mambas recebem Uganda a 20 de Março para qualificação ao Mundial – 2026

The Mozambican national soccer team, the Mambas, will host their Ugandan counterparts on the 20th of next month, in the fifth round of Group "G" qualifying for the 2026 World Cup..

The new dates were recently announced by CAF on its website.

According to a Challenge newspaperMozambique will play Algeria five days later, on March 25, in the next round.

CAF's rescheduling of the dates may have been decided taking into account the recent request by the Mozambican Football Federation (FMF) to move the match against Uganda from March 17 to March 21.

This may have been a strategy found by the FMF to buy some more time for the grass at the Zimpeto Stadium to recover sufficiently for CAF to consider lifting the ban on the venue within the period laid down by the African soccer governing body's regulations.
