Mambas make their CAN debut today against Egypt

The National Football Team, Mambas, will make its debut this Sunday at 7pm against Egypt in the first round of group "B" of the African Nations Championship, CAN, which is taking place in Ivory Coast.

This will be the fourth meeting between Mozambique and Egypt in the CAF African Cup of Nations. The three previous meetings produced a two-goal to nil victory for Egypt in the group stage in 1986, 1998 and 2010.

Meanwhile, Mozambique is entering the game with the aim of reversing this scenario and making history.

Quoted by Rádio Mocambique, the national coach, Chiquinho Conde, says he believes that Mozambique can achieve an excellent result if it is totally focused throughout the various stages of the match.

Also today, in the same group "B", Ghana play Cape Verde at 10pm. Before that, in group A, Nigeria play Equatorial Guinea at 4pm.

Yesterday, in the opening match of group "A", Côte d'Ivoire beat Guinea-Bissau by two goals to none.
