On February 15, the Mozambican Explosives Factory (FEM) and the Dondo Municipal Council handed over eight classrooms - five rehabilitated and three new - to the 25 de Setembro Basic School, located in the Mafarinha neighborhood in Dondo, Sofala Province.
The work, a partnership between Dondo Municipal Council and FEM, was financed by the latter as part of the company's Social Responsibility policy. In addition, 150 kits - backpacks with various school supplies.
With the new classrooms, the number of students without a roof will be greatly reduced and the number of stops in the teaching and learning process will also be greatly reduced, especially on bad weather days.
In his speech, the President of the Dondo Municipal Council, Manuel Chaparica, who led the event, said that it was up to the municipal executive to "guarantee the construction and maintenance of school infrastructures at municipal level."
In conclusion, the Mayor thanked the FEM for having responded to the request made by the City Council "to help children and residents in the construction and rehabilitation of important infrastructures such as this one."
