More than 200,000 people at risk from cyclones in Sofala

In Sofala, an estimated 206,000 people could be affected by the tropical storm forecast for next week. Most of the inhabitants at risk suffered from cyclones Idai and Eloíse, and are doubly vulnerable.

Speaking this Wednesday during a meeting of the Emergency Operating Committee, quoted by "Noticias", the provincial delegate of INGD (National Institute for Disaster Management and Reduction) in Sofala, Aristides Armando, said that various means have been mobilized to assist those affected and two hundred and seventy accommodation centers have been created.

Sofala's governor, Lourenço Bulha, is calling on people living in flood-prone areas to leave.

However, the provincial delegate of the National Institute of Meteorology in Sofala, Achado Paiva, stresses that it is still unclear whether or not the storm will hit the country.

In Sofala province, the marks left by cyclones Idai, Chalane and Eloíse are still very present.
