Just when it looked like it was all over, Kathryn Mayorga is back to cast a shadow over Cristiano Ronaldo's life. The American's lawyers intend to reopen the case against the Portuguese star for rape charges.
At issue is Ronaldo's payment of 375,000 dollars to Mayorga to keep her silent about what she says happened. It should be remembered that the American woman accuses the Portuguese goal scorer of rape, while CR7 vehemently denies it.
In 2018, the case was dismissed after Judge Jennifer Dorsey ruled that there had been misconduct in the handling of the case and that stolen confidential documents had been used.
Mayorga's lawyers are now seeking to overturn the dismissal, arguing that the Nevada court made a mistake in rejecting attempts to include the confidential agreement that both parties signed in 2010. It was in this document that Ronaldo's payment was defined. Mayorga intends to demand millions in compensation.
Remember that Ronaldo has always denied this accusation.
"Rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything I am and believe in," said the Portuguese international at the time.
Ronaldo's lawyers maintain that the meeting between the two was consensual and that the signing of the agreement was only intended to prevent the disclosure of that meeting.
