The government spokesman said that metal bridges will be used to reconnect sections of the National Road number 1 (EN1) that were cut off by the fury of the waters during the passage of severe tropical cyclone Jude.
Speaking on Friday in Maputo for an update on the government's achievements. Impissa said that some metal bridges are already in place in provinces such as Nampula and Zambézia, where their use will be necessary.
"However, the challenges facing Nampula province are many because there are several cuts, some more open than others, but the connection with Cabo Delgado is a priority, precisely because it is dependent on both Nampula province and the port of Nacala-Porto," he explained.
On Saturday, the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, worked in Nampula to find out about the damage caused by Cyclone Jude. The Head of State assured that contractors have already been mobilized to restore traffic on the roads that are currently affected.
Preliminary figures released by Impissa on Friday indicate that the cyclone killed 14 people, injured 60, displaced 100,000 and left dozens of public and private infrastructures destroyed.
There are nine reception centers for families affected by the storm.
