Ten young people from two teams recently received a laptop each for creating computer systems that improve the control and maintenance of health infrastructures and strengthen the social inclusion of people with visual impairments.
The teams took part in the Youth Olympics, a 20-hour marathon, with challenges to create a digital solution that improves access to health and another to optimize the maintenance of health infrastructures.
The initiative, co-organized by the Ministry of Health (MISAU) and the World Health Organization (WHO), had 181 competitors and 55 from 11 teams were selected in the screening.
The representative of the team that defended the theme "Together We Save Lives (JSV)", Michela Tsope, said she was proud to have obtained a good score in the creation of the app that will allow health facilities to be mapped and their conditions assessed, as well as determining rehabilitation priorities in order to improve health services.
"Our technological solution will help the MoH and WHO monitor institutions and health facilities to improve their rehabilitation and maintenance schedules."
The source added that the award has a lot of meaning and will serve the student's growth and, if possible, open up new opportunities.
For his part, the representative of the group "The blessed", Carlos Monjane, who generated the technology assistive for visually impaired people, said that it will serve as a guide for this social group to get around, sending out warning signals when it detects obstacles to avoid.
"Our aim is to promote social inclusion so that the visually impaired can participate equally in society." (News )
