The former president of the republic and honorary president of Frelimo, Joaquim Chissano, assures that Daniel Chapo, Frelimo's presidential candidate, will put an end to hunger problems in the civil service.
The problem was raised as a point of concern by civil servants at a meeting that brought the parties together on Monday night (16) in the town of Maxixe, Inhambane province, southern Mozambique.
"We, Mr. President, have hunger problems. It doesn't make sense for an N1 official to have curry and rice as a problem in his life," said a civil servant who spoke at the meeting.
In a publication by AIMChissano said that the problem is already known to government structures and, as a solution, he says that only by placing trust in Daniel Chapo will this and other civil service problems be resolved.
However, he added, the fight against hunger is a struggle that, despite the will, depends not only on the leaders, but also on the involvement of all civil servants, with a view to making the state apparatus sustainable and profitable.
Among the points listed by Chissano as having to be contributed by the civil servant himself, the highlight goes to the need to put an end to bad service and corruption.
"The good governance of the country also depends on civil servants being aware of their responsibilities," said Chissano.
The meeting was also attended by members of the Frelimo party, including the head of the central assistance brigade for Inhambane province, Celso Coreia.
That same evening, Chissano met with youth associations and economic agents based in the far south of Inhambane province.
