Floods: Authorities order closure of four health centers in Matola

Inundações: Autoridades ordenam encerramento de quatro centros de saúde na Matola

This Monday (25), the Matola District Health Directorate ordered the provisional closure of four health units, namely the Matola Santos, Bedene, Lingamo and Matola Gare health centers.

The rain that fell from dawn on Sunday until the early hours of yesterday, Monday, caused a trail of destruction and flooded infrastructure.

Alternatively, the authorities advise users of these services to go to the Machava II, Matola C, Malhampsene and Nkobe health centers.

For its part, the National Institute for Risk and Disaster Management (INGD) has issued a warning of the risk of flooding in the riverside areas of the Umbeluzi basin, due to discharges of up to 100 cubic millimeters being made by the Pequenos Libombos Dam.

Because of this, the INGD is appealing to residents in Boane, Namaacha and Matola Rio not to cross the drifts and to withdraw immediately from the low-lying areas.
