Floods: 229,000 people affected and 115 deaths across the country

Inundações: 229 mil pessoas afectadas e 115 mortes em todo o país

Prime Minister Adriano Maleiane told Parliament yesterday that the rainy and cyclonic season had affected at least 229,000 people, with 115 deaths and 202 injured.

He also said that the storms had caused direct damage to 42,000 homes, 500 schools, 89 health facilities and 225 power poles, as well as destroying 669,000 hectares of crops.

According to Maleiane, around 110,000 people affected by the floods and torrents are receiving assistance, while actions are being taken to mitigate the impact of the drought on agricultural production.
