The former President of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, is in hospital in Shanghai, China, to treat a "malaise", according to information from the government leader in the Chamber of Deputies, José Guimarães.
Rousseff has been hospitalized since Friday after suffering from vestibular neuritis, an "inflammation of the balance nerve". Family members told the Brazilian press that she was hospitalized on Monday.
In the meantime, his state of health doesn't seem to be a concern, as "he is responding well to treatment".
Dilma Rousseff's condition "is usually caused by a viral infection and causes strong symptoms of vertigo for several days" and was suffering from vomiting, high blood pressure and dizziness, according to the Observer.
This setback forced Rousseff to cancel her participation in a meeting with members of the board of the BRICS bank, which was to take place in Cape Town (South Africa), the newspaper added.
She presided over Brazil between 2011 and 2016 and took office in April 2023 as president of the BRICS development bank - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
