The Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE) in the province of Inhambane recorded a detour of 5 million meticais, according to the provincial director of the institution, César Silva.

According to a Success TVThe scheme began in 2022 and involved two technicians, who embezzled at least 120,000 meticais a month for their personal benefit.

"Faced with the situation, those involved were expelled, and the case is under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Office," said César Silva, adding that the misappropriation of funds has made it difficult to pay allowances to the technicians who worked on the 2023 and 2024 electoral processes.
