Started this Tuesday the data collection as part of the I National Survey on the Impact of Access to Sustainable Energy in Mozambique. The launch of the operation, which covers the entire country, will take place in the district of Mavalane, in Maputo city, and will run until June 30.

The information was made public by a source from the Directorate of Sector and Company Statistics of the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

This is an operation that aims to collect data to serve as an evidence base for knowledge about access to sustainable and modern energy in households and communities in general.

The information to be collected during the survey will contribute to the so-called "Sustainable Energy for All initiative", inscribed in the Sustainable Development Goals defined by the United Nations.

The project is being carried out by INE in coordination with the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy and the Mozambique Electricity Public Company (EDM), and is funded by NORAD - the Norwegian Development Agency.

For this operation 6480 households and 285 enumeration areas were selected, for which 13 brigades were deployed.

Another of the goals to be achieved with the initiative is to develop and strengthen INE's capabilities in the technical and human resources chapters, as well as to create bases that will contribute to improve evidence-based planning in order to facilitate access to sustainable energy throughout the country, among others.

It should be noted that access to renewable and affordable energy is the seventh Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) and the 2030 agenda, adopted by almost all countries in the world, in the context of the United Nations.

Accomplishing this task requires coordinated monitoring and evaluation activities of the implementation impact of energy-related projects.
