Tropical cyclone Jude entered the Mozambique channel in the early hours of yesterday and could enter the country in the early hours of Monday (10), according to the National Meteorological Institute (INAM).
The tropical cyclone could affect the weather in three of the country's provinces, especially Cabo Delgado and Nampula, in the north of Mozambique, and Zambézia, in the center, all of which have already been affected by two cyclones in the current rainy season, in December and January.
According to INAM, the low pressure system, which has formed on the island of Madagascar, could also affect maritime navigation with stormy winds. The system, according to INAM, could cause heavy rain and strong winds in three provinces, leading to flooding.
Meanwhile, preliminary figures from the National Institute for Disaster Risk Management and Reduction (INGD) indicate that around 341,000 people are at risk of being affected by the phenomenon.
In view of the situation, the Zambezia Maritime Administration is appealing to fishermen and users of the various crossings in the province to avoid going to sea due to the threat of this tropical phenomenon approaching.
