From July 1 to August 31, 2022, applications are open for the Imprensa Nacional/Eugénio Lisboa Award, established by the Imprensa Nacional, which annually awards prizes to unpublished works in the field of literary prose produced by Mozambican citizens, or those who have lived in Mozambique for more than five years.
The 6th edition of the Imprensa Nacional/Eugénio Lisboa Award has a new feature: submissions are made exclusively online at the site of the Imprensa Nacional, available - https://imprensanacional.pt/premios-literarios/premio-imprensa-eugenio-lisboa/
The doctor and writer, Mbate Pedro, the teacher, Sara Laisse, and, the editor, Paula Mendes, are the names that constitute the jury of this edition.
The winner will receive a cash prize of five thousand euros and will see his or her work published by Imprensa Nacional, the Portuguese public publishing house.
The National Press/Eugénio Lisboa Award has already distinguished, among winners and honorable mentions, the works "Serious World"by Pedro Pereira Lopes; "I drank from the Zambezi"by António Manna; "Gold Saga"by Aurelio Furdela; "Stained Dreams, Lived Dreams"by Agnaldo Bata; "The Island of Mulattoes"by Sérgio Raimundo; "The Man Who Lived on the Run"by Japone Agostinho; "Marizza"by Mélio Tinga; and "Eva"by Léo Cote.
The National Press created this award in partnership with Camões - Portuguese Cultural Centre in Maputo in order to encourage literary creation in Mozambique and, at the same time, to pay tribute to Eugénio Lisboa, its author and a citizen and man of culture born in Lourenço Marques, now Maputo, Mozambique. Eugénio Lisboa is an Honorary Doctor of the Universities of Aveiro and Notthingham, England, and an Officer of the Order of D. Henrique.
