After two years of suspension due to the covid-19 pandemic, the Maputo Central Hospital (HCM) has resumed plastic surgery operations, according to the health facility.
The plastic surgeon at HCM, Celma Issufo, said that eight patients from three provinces have undergone body restoration and reconstruction procedures.
The interventions took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, Issufo added, adding that the patients had deformities caused by traffic accidents, dog bites, and excess breasts in men, technically known as gynecomastia.
The surgeries were performed by a team of 20 health professionals, including doctors from various specialties, nurses, physical therapists, and nutritionists.
