HCB projecta embolsar 18 mil milhões de meticais para os cofres do Estado este ano

Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB), the country's main electricity producer, located in Tete province, central Mozambique, announced this week that it expects to pocket 18 billion for the state coffers by the end of the year..

The guarantee was given by the chairman of HCB's Board of Directors, Tomás Matola, who assured that through its social responsibility policy, the company has supported the government in different areas.

"Through its social responsibility policy, HCB supports the education sector, financing the construction of schools, the purchase of desks and other initiatives. In the health sector, the company invests in building hospitals and health centers. At the end of last year, for example, we inaugurated a Health Center in the district of Mueda, in the province of Cabo Delgado, in addition to other support that includes the acquisition of equipment and the equipping of health units," said Tomás Matola.

Just this week, the hydroelectric plant revealed that in January it saw a slight recovery in storage and stability in the reservoir's quota for hydroelectric production.

According to the company, this recovery allows HCB to continue supplying energy to Mozambique, South Africa and other countries in the southern African region.
