The number of Covid-19 infections in the country is likely to increase

The Minister of Health (MoH) admits the possibility of a considerable increase in the number of covid-19 infections in the near future in the country.

This is an increase that may be influenced by the current health situation in neighboring South Africa, which has seen an increase in the number of Covid-19 infections in recent days.

To Rádio Moçambique, Armindo Tiago explains that the proximity between the two countries, which share the largest crossing point in Maputo province, may be one of the factors for the increase in the number of positive cases in the country.

The Minister of Health clarifies that the possible increase in the number of covid-19 infections, could be characterized by mild cases, given the levels of vaccination against the disease in the country.

Armindo Tiago added, however, that even if no severe cases of covid-19 are predicted in the country, it is important that everyone adheres to the vaccination process, according to the recommendations of the health sector.

The Minister of Health was speaking this Thursday, in Ponta do Ouro, Matutuine District, Maputo province, on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the National meeting of the Geração Biz program.

The two-day National Meeting of the Generation Biz program brings together coordinators and directors of the areas that deal with the youth and adolescent sector at the provincial and national level.
