The Mozambican guitarist, Valter Mabas launches his first album entitled "Blue Windows", early this Friday evening, at the Centro Cultural Franco-Mozambicano (CCFM), in the city of Maputo.
According to a note posted on one of the CCFM's social media pages, "Blue Window" symbolizes a message of hope for all humanity. This is Valter Mabas' first album, which covers Mozambican popular music, incorporating elements of Jazz and Blues, and was recorded in the period between 2013 and 2020.
"Blue Window" is a CD composed of 12 tracks, and intends to continue the dissemination of the afro-jazz and blues style, to bring a message of hope to humanity, because in the face of the various problems of the world there is always a 'blue window'.
The album is the result of a musical experience acquired over almost two decades of career. Mabas has participated in several national and international festivals such as JazzThon, in Cape Town, South Africa.
He has collaborated with the Algarve Jazz Orchestra in Portugal (2007), participated in several editions of the Moments of Jazz Festival, Sauti sa Busara Festival, Zanzibar and Sakifo Festival, Reunion Island, accompanying Isabel Novela (2014 and 2015), Taipei International Jazz Festival, Taiwan, with Dua Maciel and Orlando Venhereque (2016), several editions of the Azgo Festival, highlighting the accompaniment of the Cape Verdean singer Lura (2016).
He has participated in the albums of several internationally acclaimed Mozambican artists including: Ivan Mazuze (Nzuti), Stewart Sukhuma (Boleia Africana), OTIS (In the house), Tanselle (African Spell), Alpha Thulana (Send Me), and Frank Paco (New Horizons).
As part of the partnership with the Centro Cultural Franco-Moçambicano he participated and collaborated in the artistic direction of concerts by international artists such as Elida Almeida, Cape Verde (2015 and 2021), Sia Tolno, Guinea-Conakry (2016), Aline Frazão, Angola (2016), Lura, Cape Verde (2016), Homage to Cesária Évora, with Lucibela and Nancy Vieira (Cape Verde), Xixel Langa and Rodhália Silvestre (Mozambique) (2016), Teófilo Chantre, Cape Verde (2018), and Sandra St. Victor, USA (2019).
Recently, he was awarded the prize for "Best song" in the Ngoma Mozambique 2021 contest with "Cherry", a song from the album "Blue Window".
