Government will conduct studies on the project to rehabilitate the EN1

Governo vai realizar estudos no projecto de reabilitação da EN1

The government will carry out in-depth studies on the rehabilitation project for the National Number One Highway (EN1), whose works are scheduled for the second half of next year, at an investment of 400 million dollars.

The information was advanced this morning by the Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, Carlos Mesquita, during the laying of the first stone for the widening of National Road number four (EN4), in Maputo province.

According to Carlos Mesquita, these are studies that will evaluate the specificities of the soils and damages along the critical zones in the highway, with emphasis on the sections between Pambara, in Inhambane and Nicoadala, in Zambézia, and Rio Lúrio, in Nampula to the city of Pemba, in the province of Cabo Delgado.

It should be noted that the EN1 rehabilitation works will be financed by the World Bank through the International Development Association (IDA) for EN1. The amount should support the Safe Roads for Better Economic Integration Project in Mozambique.
