The Defense and Security Forces (FDS) will use all the means at their disposal to guarantee public order and tranquility, even if this implies the strict fulfillment of the oath of their agents, according to the Executive.
"The actions of the FDS and the sacrifices made by its members derive from their oath to devote all their energies to fulfilling the sacred duty ofprotection of the defense of the homeland and, if necessary, the sacrifice of one's own life," said the Interior Minister.
Pascoal Ronda said that the government, through the FDS, will use all the means at its disposal to ensure that social ceremonies, such as weddings, funerals, parties, among others, can take place, including the normal functioning of institutions.
Speaking at a press conference later this afternoon on behalf of the government, Interior Minister Pascoal Ronda called for the actions of the DSF in this regard not to be seen as an excessive use of force.
"In these circumstances, the intervention of the DSF should not be understood by society as an excessive use of force when the intention is to restore public order, security and tranquillity, with a view to allowing people to resume their normal lives. Likewise, it should not be confused with excessive use of force when the DSF deploy their resources for the proportional protection of critical public and private infrastructure," he appealed.
According to Minister Ronda, the protests called by presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane, which were intended to be peaceful, have turned violent with acts of terror and are subversive against the state. In this sense, he said that the consequences of the demonstrations will be blamed on their moral actors.
He expressed his solidarity with the families of FDS members who were victims of violence.
