The government has asked the World Bank (WB) for a $400 million loan to rehabilitate National Road Number 1, which connects the country's three regions, the Minister of Public Works said.
"I met with the World Bank and we reviewed a number of aspects and everything indicates that later this month we will have a positive response for the provision of 400 million dollars so that we can start with the rehabilitation," said Carlos Mesquita, quoted today by the daily Notícias.
The governor said that the works should start in the second quarter of 2023, but before that repairs are planned to keep the road minimally passable.
"We have the rainy season approaching and these interventions are planned," highlighted Carlos Mesquita.
National Road Number 1 is more than 2,400 kilometers long and connects the south, center and north of Mozambique, being the longest in the country. (MSN)
