Government guarantees that by the end of the year the goal of vaccinating 50% of the population will be reached

Government assured this Friday that by the end of this year, the goal of vaccinating 50% of the Mozambican population against the new coronavirus pandemic will be reached.

According to the Minister of Health, Armindo Tiago, the immunization process against covid-19, in the country, has so far covered nearly seven million citizens, which corresponds to 41% of the planned target.

Armindo Tiago also explained that the global vaccination goal until next year is 17 million citizens, throughout the country, and that this goal is expected to be reached, judging by the current pace of the immunization process.

"We did not have a target to vaccinate 17 million people by December, our overall target group for vaccination is 17 million. What we said, is that we should ensure at least 50% of this target group is vaccinated by December, but our vaccination plan goes until 2022," the health minister argued.
