Government defends improved social protection for citizens

The Government pronounced itself in favor of concerted solutions for the creation of more jobs and the improvement of citizens' social protection.

The Prime Minister, Carlos Agostinho do Rosário, made this public speaking on Wednesday, in Maputo, at the Global Forum of the International Labor Organization (ILO).

Speaking on behalf of the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, Do Rosário assured that the Executive will continue to mobilize resources "to ensure social protection to the people who cannot do without it, as well as to ensure the continued recovery of economic activity.

Meanwhile, according to the prime minister, in Mozambique, labor statistics for 2021 indicate that the country recorded about 1180 collective layoffs due to the pandemic.

The data also indicate that there were nearly 1,800 contracts terminated and 237 companies closed.
