The government defends the need for the State Budget (SB) for 2022 to be focused on economic recovery actions, since the Mozambican economy is still recovering from the slowdown caused by the pandemic.
For the Minister of Economy and Finance, Adriano Maleiane, who was speaking today in parliament, understands that "this budget is already entering the recovery phase, after 2020 and 2021 we have been very focused on mitigating the effects of covid-19.
According to the governor, the executive will work towards an economic growth of 2.9% in 2022, after a drop to 1.3% this year due to the impact of the new coronavirus.
"We have to guarantee 2.9% growth, having all sectors of the economy grow," Maleiane assured, adding that: "this is the possible budget, because we know that it will not solve all the problems."
However, the Minister of Economy and Finance advanced that the Social Economic Plan (PES) and the State Budget foresee revenues of 293 billion meticais and expenses of 450 billion meticais. For this, it is pointed out that the sectors of agriculture, industry, infrastructure and tourism may boost the economy in 2022.
