The General State Account (CGE) for 2021 has been under scrutiny in parliament for two days and, this Thursday, the Prime Minister, Adriano Maleiane, admitted that there were irregularities. He promised to adopt reforms to ensure transparency and credibility in the execution of public finances.
"We are certain that by improving and consolidating the tried and tested methods, we will effectively, efficiently and swiftly guarantee the process of clarification, budgeting, budget execution and accountability at all levels of public administration," he said.
According to a publication, the executive has ignored the recommendations of the Administrative Court, among which the Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM) party highlights the need to decentralize governance, strengthen the role and actions of the internal sector of institutions, and control the public debt ceiling.
"The country is still in unsustainable debt," said Fernando Bismarque, from the MDM.
For Renamo, the Executive must learn from these mistakes in order to improve the next reports.
"It leaves something to be desired because the poverty situation in Mozambique is still high, so is chronic malnutrition [and much more]," said Renamo's Arnaldo Chalaua.
Frelimo considers that the report presented by the government has merit and should therefore be approved.
