Government admits there are flaws in driver certification in the country

The government admits there may be flaws in certifying overly young individuals as utility category drivers.

According to the vice-minister of Transport and Communications, Manuela Rebelo, who was speaking a few days ago in Inhambane, said that it is not admissible that young people up to 25 years old hold a public service driving license, because, according to her words, this is the result of a career, which is not made after leaving driving school.

"I'm not going to take a young man in his 21s or 25s coming to me with public services. Public service is a career. If it's a career, something is wrong," said Manuela Rebelo.

For Manuela Rebelo, the National Institute of Road Transport (INATRO) should check what is happening to the proliferation of young and inexperienced drivers with this type of license, whose endorsement is supposed to result from a series of conditions.

The governor revealed that part of the drivers who daily transport thousands of lives on the country's roads do not have a public service license, a document that qualifies them to do so, which may be among the causes of the accidents that are registered involving this type of car.
