The governor of Gaza has reiterated that it is illegal to prevent students from entering the classroom due to the non-contribution of the amount intended for the remuneration of guards in public educational establishments, an issue that has generated debate in various parts of the province and the country, especially at the beginning of each school year.
Margarida Chongo called on the education sector to supervise the school communities more closely so that no pupil's rights are conditioned by the notorious "payment of guardianship", stressing that she had received complaints from some parents according to which some schools forbid access to certificates, declarations and other privileges provided for in the context of general education.
According to Margarida Chongo, who was speaking during the session of the provincial education board, in the context of monitoring the implementation of the 100-day plan, any manager who violates the rule will be held accountable administratively and judicially.
Regarding the payment of overtime, Margarida Chongo was satisfied with the progress made in complying with the plan, but she was very concerned about the undue remuneration of some teachers, especially in the Xai-Xai district. She considers this to be a criminal matter that should be followed up by all those involved so that there is clarification, because, according to the chief executive, there are professionals being harmed because of the bad faith of others.
Regarding the fulfillment of the 100-day plan in the sector, it should be noted that six new schools have been opened in the province, one in Mapai and another five in Chicualacuala. It is also worth highlighting the transformation of 13 elementary school into elementary schools, an effort that has benefited more than 7,000 students.
